how to save and join files

Some media files are too big to upload or download at the same time, so programs such as HJSplit (Windows) or Split and Concat (Mac users) are used to split large files, and merge/join the files back.

Instructions on how to download, save and join the files under the cut:

WINDOWS users
Downloading and Saving
1. Download and save all parts in ONE folder. If you save one part in a different location, the file won't be joined properly later on.

I haven't usedHJSplit in a long time, so I am linking the rest of the instructions from this resource post from jdramas LJ community.
2. Make sure you save these files correctly. Usually they save automatically the right way, but every once in a while Windows tries to save the .001 file as a default media file and it screws up all the files in that particular episode and they can't be rejoined. So it's really important to look at how your computer is saving the .001 file.

When you go to download the files and the little window pops up where you choose the location to save the file, you have to make sure you select "all files" as the file type.

These two pics show what I mean better than I can explain:
A screen print of what it looks like when it's going to be saved wrong.
A screen print of how to fix it so it will save right.

Again, this is the source for this portion.

Joining the files
To rejoin the files, open HJSplit and:
1. Click "Join"
2. Click "Input File"
3. Choose the first part (always has .001 extension) of the file you wish to join.
4. Click "Start" and wait for the file to be joined.

Once the files are joined, you can delete the split files / .001, .002, .003, .004 files

Mac OS

Downloading and Saving
1. Download the files. (I've never had problems with Mac renaming my files, so all will save as .001, .002, and so on)
2. Make sure all downloaded files are in one folder or one location only. If you save one part in a different location, the file won't be joined properly later on.

Joining the files

To rejoin, open Split and Concat
1. Click "Concat"
2. Choose the first part (with .001 extension) of the file you will join.
3. After choosing, the file will immediately be joined.
4. Wait for the file to be joined then you're done!

Once the files are joined, you can delete the split files / .001, .002, .003, .004 files
